ReplyDeleteThe first time Spencer had chemo was difficult. We had no idea what to expect. Spencer's bone marrow was ultra sensitive so the first time around he lost his hair within a week, he had to have 2 platelet transfusions, and one packed red blood cell transfusion. He couldn't eat anything and was tired. He was hit with chemo and radiation at the same time though for his first couple weeks of treatment. The doctor's gave him zofran for nausea and that helped tremendously! After that we knew what to expect and what to try to feed him. Pancakes, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, pudding, anything easy on the stomach. The zofran they gave Spencer could be put under your tongue to dissolve, it was easier than a shot or trying to get him to swallow it.
